Hines and Paul Young were together for nearly eight years before calling it quits. They tied the knot on December 30, 2002, when Cheryl was rising to fame with Curb Your Enthusiasm. Their marriage brought them a daughter, Catherine Rose Young, who was born on March 8, 2004.
By July 20, 2010, the couple decided to go their separate ways and officially filed for divorce. Despite ending their marriage, they remained on good terms. According to Cheryl’s rep, the two planned to co-parent Catherine while staying close friends. Unlike many Hollywood divorces, their split was free of scandals and messy legal battles.
Who Is Paul Young?
Paul Young has made a name for himself in Hollywood—not as an actor, but as a producer and talent manager. He founded Principato-Young Entertainment (PYE), one of the biggest management-production firms in the industry, helping shape the careers of top entertainers.
A Swarthmore College graduate, Paul earned his degree with honors in 1992 before making his mark in entertainment. His work paid off in 2016 when the former celebrity spouse won an Emmy as an executive producer of Comedy Central’s Key & Peele. Taking to Instagram, Hines shared a heartfelt tribute to her daughter, reminiscing about their journey together.
“One day we’re twirling around in teacups & the next day you’re graduating from high school! Cat, my beautiful girl, I’m so proud of you. You’re smart, bold, beautiful, funny, thoughtful & you just radiate light,” Hines wrote.

Since then, Cheryl and Catherine have taken their bond to the next level—going into business together. In May 2023, the mother-daughter duo launched a cosmetic company, a venture Cheryl says is meant to empower her daughter and help her explore her creative side.
In addition, Catherine has also stepped in front of the camera a few times. She made guest appearances on Curb Your Enthusiasm alongside her mom and also landed a role in the animated series Big City Greens.
